Zombies, 10x10, Proms, and Openings

Wed Sep 23, 2009, 7:20 PM
So, its been a little while since my last update...something like 4 or 5 months...but Ive finally got a few things worth mentioning!

First off, my friend Steph and I are in the middle of shooting our first stop-motion/live action movie (well short to be honest, bout 10 mins hopefully) about zombie transformation! The two of us are doing everything ourselves including shootting, special fx make-up, and editing; with the exception of help from our friend Matt to do the soundtrack. Its a mix of live action filming and stop-motion using my camera for still shots. No dialog, just awesome, creepy sound effects using various instruments. We'll be putting it up on youtube once its complete. Im so excited! It looks great so far!

Ok, next up, Ive finally got gallery showings! And go figure theyre one right after the other! Thursday Oct. 1st is Inliquids 10x10 Benefit Show in Philly. Myself, Steph, and our friend Leah each have a piece in the show. Theres over 200 participating artists and everything will be sold through a silent auction throughout the evening. Im really looking forward to it!
The next day, Friday Oct. 2nd, is the opening at The Spot in Wilmington. This one is the big one (to me at least) because I put this one together. Id been trying to get a show at this place for a few months, and finally with help from a new friend, was able to get ahold of the guy who runs the space. Steph, Leah, Tina, and hopefully Laury and Brian will be showing their work as well. I really just wanted to be able to have a gallery on my terms, with no restrictions or specifics. Just what I want to show, how I want to show it. We're all scrambling around trying to get everything ready now and Thursday night and all day friday before the opening were going to be making food and setting everything up. Theres going to be live music from local bands, including one of my favs, Revolution I Love You. So if all goes well it should be awesome and Ill def. post some pics.

And finally, just because this is freaking awesome, my friends and I are going to Zombie Prom at the Trocadero in Philly this Sunday! A whole night of fancy dressed zombies dancing and boozing to awesome music! Not sure what Im wearing yet or what kind of wounds I want to do, but Im so excited for it! Ill be posting pics from that as well!

Alright well I think that about does it. Theres def. a few things Ill be posting soon that are worth keepings an eye out for!

Online Zine / Printed Zine???

Tue Apr 14, 2009, 4:42 PM
So, since times are hard and times in the art world are even harder, im thinking about working on starting up my own zine. it will probably start out as an online thing, and then when i have the means, id really like to start a printed one. nothing huge, but a local zine about delawares sub-culture. the art, music, alternative scenes. whether any of us would like to admit it or not, delaware does offer a few interesting and fun things. i already shoot photos for a local magazine, but i hardly ever get work because theres so many of us fighting for assignments and a lot of the times im just going to a bar and shooting drunk people. i could do so much more. i could get the online thing going and then start having fundraisers to earn money towards printing it. i could throw house parties and stuff, and charge a couple bucks. i think itd be really awesome. id probably base it on delaware, philly and occasionally DC and NY when something really awesome is going on and im able to get to those places to shoot/report it. i think its a really good project for me to work on. itll take a lot of time and effort and frustration, but it should be really awesome. im excited. just thought id throw that out there. im also working on another set of photos from the Thrill Show i went to on saturday and ill be shooting again at the Peep Show next wednesday. so keep an eye out for all that.

Spring 2009 Events

Sun Apr 5, 2009, 9:49 PM
So my photography had pretty much hit a dead end for a little over a month or so. It was really depressing to not have any work and no ideas for personal work either. But, I was hit with a stroke of luck and finally got an assignment for the magazine I work for. I got to go to the Delaware Music Fest in Dewey Beach on Friday and shoot the bands playing and the awards that were given out. It was a high paying assignment too, which is awesome. I got to see my friend Zachs band play finally and they were AMAZING!! I also got an extra assignment early that day to go to an organic/green cafe called Green Man and do a shoot there for a review. It was really cool and I got to work with one of our reporters who was really nice so it was a really great day. Ive also got several events coming up that Im planning on shooting and am very excited about. One is this coming Friday at Mojo 13. Its another burlesque/sideshow thing. Then theres a 7 band show on the 18th at Mojo that Im going to shoot at and im also performing in!! Zachs band will be there too which is awesome. After that the Pretty Things Peep Show is coming back to town so Im shooting them again. So ive got a few things to look forward to and as they come along Ill upload pics. Theres more to come from Friday as well.

Oh, I also put my lower back out yesterday and then stupidly hurt it even more tonight. So, yeah. i cant really move too much right now. its awesome.

The Note

Sun Feb 15, 2009, 6:08 PM
So I went on my coolest assignment thus far last night. I was assigned to go to The Note in West Chester, PA to shoot "on the scene" for The Bloodhound Gang show. Unfortionatly, they could only get me on the list, so I had to go alone, but it was nearly as bad as i thought it would be. managed to get really good possitions to shoot the bands from (stairs and balcony), met some interesting people, and got Bam to let me take his pic for the paper. his bar is awesome, i must add. wouldnt mind going back there to hang out. i havnt uploaded my photos yet though, so we'll have to see if my shots are actually any good when i get them into PS. if anythings worth it, ill post it on here.
